Hours after Veteran Gujarat BJP leader and former state health minister Jay Narayan Vyas resigned from the party stating that he has kept his options open on whether to join the Congress or the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), he received an “open invitation” from the AAP to enter the party fold.
Making it clear that he will be fighting the Assembly elections, Vyas said he could join the Congress or the AAP after consulting his supporters.
AAP’s Gujarat chief Gopal Italia told media persons, “Jay Narayan Vyas is an experienced and knowledgeable leader. He is also a good human being, a rare quality in politics. He has devoted himself to public service. It is our desire that a stalwart like Jay Narayan bhai should come to the Aam Aadmi Party.”
Italia also heaped praises on Vipul Chaudhary, who holds sway north Gujarat, and who has been jailed on graft charges. Chaudhary’s Arbuda Sena has been attacking the BJP saying the party is behind his arrest.
“Vipul Choudhary is a respected social leader. His father also contributed a lot to the society,” Italia said. “We are hopeful that Vipulbhai too will decide in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party,” he added.
