As the Gujarat Police tightens its screws on drug peddlers, Ahmedabad Police’s DCP Zone-1 squad on Thursday nabbed a young woman with MD drugs from near the upmarket GMDC grounds.
The Vastrapur police arrested Jyotika Deepakbhai Upadhyay, a resident of Shiv Kedar Flat in Ahmedabad’s western area of Gota, with 4 gm of MD (mephedrone) drug popularly known as meow-meow.
During preliminary investigations, the girl revealed the details of a young man who reportedly supplied her with the stuff. The police had a tip-off that a young woman who lives in Gota was selling drugs.
DCP Zone-1 Dr Lavina Sinha’s Squad got the input that a young woman living in Gota was about to pass by the GMDC ground with MD drugs. Based on the information, the DCP Zone-1 squad and Vastrapur police had set up a watch. On checking her, the police recovered the drugs.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Vastrapur police station and an investigation is underway.
