A 25-year-old youth allegedly died by suicide by jumping off the 15th floor of a commercial building in the Nehrunagar area of Ahmedabad early Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Kushal Patel, who hailed originally from Bharuch and worked in a US-based company, Bottle POS, in the city.
The incident, which took place around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, came to light after a security guard of the Venus Grounds building noticed and rushed to the spot. He promptly called the Satellite police station and narrated the whole matter.
Colleagues of Kushal told Vibes of India that his health had been deteriorating over the past couple of days. He had been absent from work yesterday but had made an appearance this morning around 9:00 a.m., informing colleagues that he wasn’t feeling well and intended to leave early. The unfortunate incident occurred shortly thereafter.
Those who knew Kushal described him as a person of a kind nature, and his sudden death has left his colleagues grappling with shock.
“He was also taking some medications related to his mental health,” said one of the employees.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances that led to Kushal Patel taking such an extreme step.
Reportedly, this is not the first instance. Locals said another suicide took place a few months ago in the same commercial building.
