Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra took to Twitter this morning and expressed support for Centre’s Angipath scheme and said that his company would gladly offer employment to Agniveers after they complete their four years of service. His statement comes at a time when protests against the scheme are intensifying throughout India.
In his tweet, Mahindra wrote, “Saddened by the violence around the Agneepath program. When the scheme was mooted last year I stated-& I repeat-the discipline & skills Agniveers gain will make them eminently employable. The Mahindra Group welcomes the opportunity to recruit such trained, capable young people.”
Replying to a question on Twitter regarding where the Agniveers could be posted, Mahindra said that there was a lot of potential for these young men in the corporate sector. “With leadership, teamwork & physical training, Agniveers provide market-ready professional solutions to industry, covering the full spectrum from operations to administration & supply chain management,” he said.
RPG Group Chairman Harsh Goenka has also shared similar views about the Agniveers and said that his company too would be willing to employ these men. He also expressed his hope that other companies would come forward in this regard.
