In a disturbing incident, a 22-year-old woman from Rajkot found herself ensnared in a sinister plot concocted by a tantrik based in Amreli. The victim, who had recently separated from her husband, along with her mother, was duped out of Rs. 3.13 lakhs and their gold jewelry. What began as a purported solution to her personal struggles turned into a harrowing ordeal involving sexual assault perpetrated not just by the tantrik but also by five others whom he solicited.
The ordeal unfolded over a span of eight months, starting in October when the victim, whose identity is protected under anonymity, sought solace with her parents after her marital separation. During this tumultuous period, the victim’s mother confided in a friend, Bharti, who recommended her son-in-law, Mukesh Bhesaniya, as a tantrik capable of resolving her daughter’s issues. Acting on this recommendation, it was decided that the victim, referred to as Bhavnaben, would stay with Mukesh’s family in Amreli for a period of time.
However, instead of finding solace, Bhavnaben became a victim of extortion and manipulation at the hands of Mukesh. He claimed to perform rituals aimed at resolving her problems but continuously demanded money for various ceremonies, including those purportedly held in Dwarka and Ujjain. Alongside Mukesh, two other tantriks, Sunil Ravaldev and Dinesh Ribadiya, as well as an accomplice, engaged in fraudulent activities, eventually robbing Bhavnaben and her mother of substantial sums of money and jewelry.
As the situation escalated, Mukesh resorted to coercion, threatening harm to Bhavnaben’s son if she did not comply with his demands. Eventually, he escalated the abuse, coercing her into a physical relationship and subsequently facilitating her sexual assault by himself and five other individuals, whom he allegedly took money from for this purpose.
Suspicions arose within Bhavnaben’s family, prompting her mother to confide in her husband and take swift action to rescue their daughter from Amreli. Despite resistance from Mukesh, they succeeded in bringing Bhavnaben back safely to Rajkot.
