Woman Paraded Half Naked, 12 Arrested

| Updated: January 31, 2025 17:46

Dahod police have arrested 12 persons in a case where a married woman was stripped half naked and paraded in a village of Dahod district over an alleged extra-marital affair.

According to reports, 15 persons, including women, were involved in the incident that took place on January 28. The Police swung into action after the video from Dhalsimal village of Sanjeli taluka went viral.

Reports indicate that the woman was assaulted by her in-laws when she was at the residence of one Govind Rathod, with whom she had an alleged extra-marital affair.

Her in-laws barged into Rathod’s house and allegedly beat her and paraded her in a compromised state.

After the video went viral, the police contacted the woman and counselled her, after which a complaint was filed.

Gujarat president of Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) observed that Gujarat too Manipur like incident. He demanded proper action from Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi or resign from their posts.

Aam Adami Party(AAP) MLA from Dediapada Chaitar Vasava criticised the incident and sought to know why such an incident was not stopped.

Dahod had earlier witnessed a similar incident in June 2023, when a tribal woman was publicly abused, stripped, and beaten by a group, including her estranged husband in Margala village.
