Roshan Bhumihar, accused of raping a four-and-a-half-year-old girl in Dindoli in 2018, was sentenced by a court to life imprisonment. The sentence came swiftly. But for the victim, the horrific incident was just the beginning of a hellish life.
Following that traumatic incident, eight operations have been performed on the girl, now just seven years old. She has had 200 stitches on her body. In a week, she will undergo her 9th plastic surgery.
Lawyer Pratibha Desai, who bears the medical expenses for the child, said that the girl has been unable to sit for three years.
The surgeries have been carried out by doctors, including American medics, but it remains questionable whether the girl will ever be a mother.
For the girl and her parents, who said that the child could only sleep sporadically in a day, this is no less than living hell. Therapy, including yoga, has been tried out, not with much success.
