Gujarat Congress president Shaktisinh Gohil lashed out at the ruling BJP alleging scams in construction work and other revenue related activities. There is nothing wrong with the cement being used, he quipped adding that no buildings or political offices had collapsed but bridges were giving away on a regular basis.
He said a detailed inquiry into why bridges in Gujarat are collapsing at a surprising regularity within months after they are built. He indicated widespread corruption.
At the function in Rajkot, AAP leaders from across Rajkot district and Saurashtra- Kutch region joined the Congress.
On this occasion, Shaktisinh Gohil said, “Inflation and unemployment is on the rise in Gujarat. It is becoming increasingly difficult for middle class citizens in the state to survive under this government. Gujarat is seeing many instances of bridges and flyovers collapsing, but has anyone ever seen the Congress party break in any way?
AAP members joining the Congress party fold include AAP State Vice President Manoj Bhuptani, Vice President Ahmedabad City Ramesh Vora, Minister Ahmedabad City S. K. Pargi, Former Lok Sabha Incharge Ajay Chaubey, Media Team Member Nehal Dave, and State Spokesperson for AAP Parag Panchal.
Welcoming the new members into Congress, Shaktisinh Gohil mentions, “Just as milk becomes sweeter with the addition of sugar, the Congress party will become even stronger with the addition of our new members. Our party motto has always been to keep everyone together. It was the Congress’ ideology that led the country to freedom.”
With only a few months left for the 2024 elections, the addition of more than 100 members to Congress has strengthened the party’s resolve to win. The Gujarat Congress Party President also commented on BJP’s policies, “The BJP government protects policy influencers and black marketers, and as a result, it has become difficult for people to afford even essentials. A gas cylinder, during Congress rule in 2014, cost Rs. 414, and under BJP rule, the cost has increased to Rs. 1200.
He also commented on the state’s education system, “BJP has made it difficult to access education and basic health services for people. The cost of education is rising, and government institutions are floundering because of a lack of funding and infrastructure. At a time when the basic right of education is not available to Gujarat’s citizens, Congress will continue fighting for the right to education.” He mentioned that anyone who wants to serve the state of Gujarat is welcome to join the Congress party. “If you want democracy, Congress is your only choice.”- Amit Chavda
During this event at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, Congress party leader Amit Chavda gave a speech, “Rahul Gandhi’s vision for the Bharat Jodo Yatra resulted in Congress’ resounding victory in Karnataka. Additionally. Rahul Gandhi’s message of peace, kindness and love during the Bharat Jodo Yatra was in response to the current climate of fear, distrust and hatred that has taken over the country. AAP’s role as BJP’s B team has left many party leaders and members dissatisfied, which is why they have joined Congress.
These new additions to our party make us stronger. We will fight against BJP as one unit. If the people want India to remain a democracy, Congress is the only option.”
