A satirical trend has taken social media platform X by storm, as users have begun to question ‘What’s Wrong With India?’ This trend involves users sharing images that depict Westerners engaged in activities for which India has often been criticised, such as living on the streets, public hygiene practices and poverty.
One user humorously juxtaposed the situation with a comment, “What’s wrong with India? But it looks like NYC.” Another user shared a video of a man urinating inside a train at a station, further highlighting the universality of these issues.
In a swift response to this trend, the Indian government, through its official handle MyGovIndia, posted four images featuring news clippings that highlight the country’s recent achievements. These accomplishments include the successful eradication of ‘extreme poverty,’ being the first nation to land on the moon’s south pole region, receiving accolades from the IMF chief for being the fastest growing economy, and other countries emulating India’s advancements in digital infrastructure.
In a counter-response, netizens have shared images and videos pointing out significant flaws in other countries, prompting a sincere question – ‘What is so wrong in India?’
