Officials of VMC spent over rupees 6.49 lakhs on tea and snacks in the last 13 months. This is the report of RTI seeking by activist Atul Gamechi who expressed displeasure over the expenses and requested officials to cut down the costs and spend the amount on giving primary basic facilities to the residents of the city.
According to information received from the meeting branch of Vadodara Corporation under the Right to Information Act 2005, the mayor, chairman, deputy mayor, and the leader of the ruling party have spent Rs 6.49 lakh on tea and snacks in the last year. From March 2021 to March 2022, details have surfaced that this expenditure was incurred behind tea and snacks.
“As per the details in the RTI, 89,172 was spent by Mayor Keyur Rokadia, 1,30,050 by Deputy Mayor Nanda Joshi, 2,98,313 by Chairman Dr. Hitendra Patel, and 1,32,019 by Alpesh Limbachia, Leader of the Ruling Party. The residents are not getting basic facilities in the city and hence we demand the officials to cut down their cost,” said RTI activist Atulbhai Gamechi.
In reply Dr. Hitendra Patel said, people of the city come to their office with some complaints, work and we give them the hospitality by offering them tea and snacks.
