Tamil Nadu’s film industry has witnessed another star entering the political arena. Tamil actor Thalapathy Vijay, popularly known as Vijay, announced his political party, ‘Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam,’ on Friday. He said he was determined to bring about a “fundamental political change” in the state with a transparent, caste-free, and corruption-free administration.
The actor’s fan club, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, had approved the formation of the political party in a meeting in Chennai last week. The actor issued a statement saying, “We are applying to the EC today to register our party ‘Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam’. Our aim is to contest and win the 2026 assembly elections and deliver the fundamental political change that people desire.”
