It remains an instance of gathering cheap publicity. IPS officer Ajay Chaudhary, morphed a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech such that it appeared he was being lauded by the PM. Editing expertise made the clip real and come alive. VO! reported on the “real-looking reel clip” on 15th March
Within hours of the video news reporting, the officer was hauled by his seniors and forced to delete the same. The video was taken from the Prime Minister’s recent two-day visit to Gujarat. During the various events he attended, the Raksha Shakti University address to students was seized to “promote his image as a conscientious cop,” shared a police insider.
The speech praised the humanitarian work of the police force during the pandemic. Modi went on to state that he had seen many images of policemen working tirelessly in reaching out with food and medicines to the needy. The shamed officer used this excerpt and put in clips of himself distributing food and medicines with the background of the speech. His wife Deepshika also uploaded the clip on her account and captioned: “The video of IPS Ajay Chaudhary, who has worked during the difficult times of Corona. Today, Narendra Modiji has praised Ajay Kumar Chaudhary.” She also tagged the official handles of Gujarat Police in the post.
The video went viral soon after. It garnered thousands of likes and even more viewership. “People thought that the PM was speaking only about Ajay,” added the source. When contacted for his side of the story, the officer declined to comment stating he was busy in a meeting.
