Versuni India, previously known as Philips Domestic Appliances, has inaugurated a new factory in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The factory will produce air fryers and garment steamers, with a current capacity of 500,000 air fryers and 200,000 garment steamers, scalable to 1 million units.
The company plans to create 1,000 jobs over the next three years, a mix of direct and indirect employment. CEO Henk de Jong expressed Versuni’s commitment to India as a strategic growth market, with the aim to increase the production of products marketed to Indian consumers from 70% to 90%.
The factory will be the production site for flagship products like Philips Airfryers and Garment Steamers, marking a shift in Indian consumer preferences. The air fryer will be manufactured in India for the first time, using a fully integrated automatic robotic coating line.
The facility meets all global standards, including CE certification, ensuring adherence to stringent international quality benchmarks. This move follows Versuni’s successful entry into India’s home security devices segment in 2023, demonstrating the company’s commitment to diversifying its product offerings in response to market needs.
