Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday said that Rajasthan will become an economic leader in the country if railway facilities are developed. The Vande Bharat Express between Ajmer and Delhi Cantonment was described by the Chief Minister as a “great gift” for Rajasthan.
The Chief Minister said that the development of the railway network in Rajasthan is of great importance because of its geographical identity. He said, “Rajasthan has witnessed rapid industrial development and if railways are developed here, the state will lead the country in economic terms.”
“Railways are contributing significantly to the social, cultural and economic development of the country,” he said. The changes that the railways have undergone after Independence are the result of the thinking of our great leaders and the hard work of dedicated railway employees and officials. Apart from passenger and freight transport, the railways have also provided important services in times of natural calamities and wars in the country,” Gehlot said.
It is Rajasthan’s first semi-high-speed train that will cut the travel time between Jaipur and Delhi by half. The new Vande Bharat train will start its regular service between Ajmer and Delhi Cantonment on April 13, making stops at Jaipur, Alwar and Gurgaon.
Gehlot also requested Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to connect the railway stations in Banswara, Tonk, and Karauli.
The chief minister announced that the Rajasthan government and the Railway Board have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the rail service between the Dungarpur-Banswara-Ratlam sector. Governor Kalraj Mishra and Railway Minister Vaishnaw were also present at the event.
