Annie Wersching, 45, best known for her roles as FBI agent Renee Walker in the television series ’24’ and as Tess in the video game ‘The Last of Us,’ died on Sunday morning in Los Angeles.
As per her spokesperson, she had been fighting cancer for many years.
Annie was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and has appeared in numerous television shows over the course of her two-decade career.
Her debut appearance was in “Star Trek: Enterprise”, and she has since appeared as the Borg Queen in the seventh and eighth seasons of ‘24’, Bosch, The Vampire Diaries, Marvel’s Runaways, and the second season of Star Trek: Picard.
Neil Druckmann, creator of “The Last of Us”, tweets his condolences, saying “We just lost a magnificent artist and human being. My heart is broken. Our thoughts are with her family”.
Actor Paul Wesley, who co-starred with Wersching on the American supernatural teen drama ‘The Vampire Diaries’ took to his Instagram Story on Sunday night to pay tribute to his on-screen mom, says, ‘I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Annie Wersching. She also performed Tess’ voice and motion capture for the blockbuster video game “The Last of Us”. Wershing was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 but continued to work, according to reports. Her husband, actor Stephen Full, and three boys survive her.
