More than 1200 aspiring electrical assistants in Gujarat, agitating against the Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO) felt cheated as the company cancelled the recruitment process citing technical error in one of the segment of the selection process.
After the GETCO recruitment controversy blew up, the company has finally responded by placing 6 officials under suspension. Jeopardizing the future of more than 1200 candidates, GETCO had arbitrarily cancelled the exam process at an advance stage, citing issues in one of the segment of the selection process.
Student leader and whistleblower in paper leak scams in Gujarat, Yuvrajsinh Jadeja took up the issue of the agitating youth. GETCO had to ultimately cave in. Earlier, GETCO had cancelled the entire examination process and wanted every candidate to reappear again for the written exam as well claiming that irregularities were noticed in the in the pole climbing test process.
GETCO cancelled the entire selection process of the two-phase recruitment exercise for the Vidyut Sahayak (Electrical Assistant) position. 1224 candidates had cleared the initial screening and written exams. The candidates are willing to take the poll climbing test again but are wary of taking written exams one more time.
The candidates were up in arms as some of them had already left the jobs they had prior to their selections in GETCO and were just waiting for formal selection letter from GETCO.
6 officers of engineer and deputy engineer level have been suspended by GETCO in this regard. The suspended officers include Mehsana Division Deputy Engineer KH Parmar, Dhanera Executive Engineer SR Yadav and Mehsana Executive Engineer BJ Chaudhary who are blamed for the negligence in the pole climbing test process at Junagadh and Jamnagar.
