The regulator of the Uttarakhand government has suspended the manufacturing licences of nearly 15 products produced by Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved. The decision, revealed in a notification dated April 24, comes amidst allegations of misleading advertisements about the efficacy of these products.
While the Uttarakhand government’s order has yet to be made public, it is understood that the suspension of licences is due to repeated instances of misleading advertisements. The government order indicates that these advertisements have been a significant factor in the decision.
The Supreme Court has also entered the fray, having criticized Ramdev in recent weeks for his failure to comply with its directives to halt misleading advertisements for some of his products. The apex court’s involvement underscores the seriousness of the allegations against Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved.
The Supreme Court is set to hear Patanjali’s case tomorrow, April 30. The hearing will determine whether contempt charges will be pressed against Ramdev.
