The US elections are the centre of focus not just for its citizens but also for other countries in the world. The latest AtlasIntel poll indicates that former President Donald Trump is leading the projections ahead of the November 5 voting, particularly in all seven battleground states.
According to the poll, 49% of the respondents stated they would support Donald Trump in the next presidential election, which is now taking place with the Republicans ahead of Democrat Kamala Harris by 1.8%.
Nearly 2,500 likely voters in the US, mostly women, participated in the survey, which was conducted during the first two days of November.
The spotlight is on swing states or the battleground states that largely determine the outcome of the US presidential election, as the 2024 presidential election approaches its final days.
Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are all swing states where the Republican nominee is expected to win. With a 51.9% to 45.1% advantage against Harris, Trump maintains his strongest edge in Arizona.
In Nevada, 51.4% of voters selected Trump and 45.9% selected Harris when asked who they would vote for in the next presidential election. In North Carolina, Harris received 46.8% of the vote, while Trump leads by 50.4%.
Red States, Blue States, and Swing States are the three categories of states that influence presidential elections in the US. Blue States have been ruled by Democrats since 1992, while Red States have been consistently won by Republicans since 1980. Election results in these states are typically seen as predictable.
Republicans and Democrats often battle each other in swing states, with the winners prevailing by narrow margins. In the 2020 presidential election, Joe Biden won Arizona by a mere 10,000 votes.
According to a Reuters/Ipsos survey released last week, Kamala Harris is a single percentage point ahead of Donald Trump, 44% to 43%.
It is interesting to note that although Harris has topped Trump in every Reuters/Ipsos survey of registered voters since she joined the race in July, her margin has gradually decreased since late September.
