Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met a delegation of United Kingdom MPs belonging to the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) (Trade and Investment) in Gandhinagar on Wednesday.
Referring to the Biotechnology University in GIFT City, which is collaborating with the UK’s University of Edinburgh, Patel invited the world’s top UK universities to set up campuses in Gujarat, a government release said.
The APPG is visiting India from 9 to 15 April on a trade and investment mission. In addition to Delhi, members will also visit Pune and Mumbai.
From the delegation, eight MPs from the Labour Party, the Conservative Party, the Scottish National Party and the Cross Bench met the Chief Minister. The MPs visiting Gujarat are Bob Blackman, Karan Bilimoria, Martyn Day, Nia Griffith, Rajinder Paul Loomba, Andrew Rosindell, Sandip Verma, Kuldip Singh Sahota and John Desmond Forbes Anderson.
At the meeting, the Chief Minister elaborated on the fact that Gujarat has become a model state for the extensive development of the country under the visionary leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Chief Minister added that due to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, trade and industry with the country and abroad have grown tremendously and Gujarat under his leadership is always ready for friendly relations with other states and nations.
The Chief Minister also said that Gujarat has become the preferred investment destination due to its proactive policies, ease of doing business, investor-friendly approach and robust industrial and logistic infrastructure.
He made it clear that Gujarat is ahead of other states in all areas of trade, industry and manufacturing and has become the state of first choice for foreign investment after the success of Vibrant Summit.
CM Bhupendra Patel urged the members of the delegation to personally visit and experience the ultra-modern facilities set up at Gift City and IFSC, etc.
The CM also informed the delegation about the world-class facilities pertaining to higher education in Gujarat and the speciality of sector-specific universities.
Minister of Finance and Energy Kanu Desai, Minister of State for Industries and Home Harsh Sanghvi, Chief Principal Secretary to CM Kailashnathan, Additional Chief Secretary of Industries Department S.J. Haider, Industries Commissioner Sandip Sangle, MD (Managing Director ) of iNDEXTb Gaurang Makwana also participated in this meeting.
