Delegates visiting Ahmedabad for the Urban20 (U20) summit enjoyed shopping, travel and some cultural activities ahead of the event on Thursday. Ahmedabad will for the first time host the U20, a meeting of representatives of major cities of G20 countries to discuss urban issues and challenges. Representatives from 35 different nations will participate in the summit.
On Thursday, the delegates got a traditional welcome at Ahmedabad airport with Deputy Commissioner for Trade, Investment and Innovation Dilip Chauhan from New York joining the garba performers. Representatives from Indonesia were so impressed by the garba attire, they went shopping at Law Garden for the same.
The delegates are staying at a top hotel at Sindhu Bhavan Road. They took an auto to explore the various places of interest in and around the city. They visited Sidi Saiyyed Ni Jali, Hathisingh Na Dera and Adalaj Ni Vav.
Representatives from Barcelona, São Paulo, Paris, Johannesburg, Tokyo, and Jakarta among others will participate in the summit.
