The UPSC Civil Services is undoubtedly one of the toughest exams to crack. An ed-tech firm claims that the UPSC pass percentage or the scope of an applicant making it as a Civil Services officer is approximately 0.2%.
Thus, no words of acclaim could be enough for Ansar Shaikh, a 21-year-old who cleared the UPSC exam withstanding all the hurdles that came his way.
Born to a father who drives auto rickshaw for a living in the Marathwada district of Maharashtra’s Jalna village and a mother, who toiled in the fields, Shaikh never allowed economic hardships to become an impediment to his education.
Always a bright student, he pursued his graduation from Pune College before preparing for the UPSC Civil Services exam. According to a report by a news website, he cracked the exam in 2016 with an All India Rank (AIR) 361 on the first attempt.
His brother dropped out of class seven and worked in a garage to support the family.
However, nothing discouraged Shaikh from his goal as he immersed himself completely in the task and cracked the toughest exam.
Shaikh is posted as ADM, Cooch Behar, West Bengal. A much-deserved reward and there should be more coming his way.
