TVS Motor Company has launched an improved version of its Jupiter 110 scooter, with a host of new features that include dual helmet under-seat storage, front fuel filling and an infinity light bar. These features have so far been available in the company’s 125 cc range of scooters, but this is the first time they are being incorporated into the 110 cc range. The new model is now available in Gujarat at a price of Rs 76,200.
Addressing a news conference in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, TVS Associate Vice President (Marketing) Benoy Anthony said that the company’s market research has shown that Jupiter customers are typically in the 30-45 age bracket, married and middle-class. “This demographic is undergoing lifestyle changes with increasing affluence. They are more confident, individualistic, ambitious and optimistic about the future. They want more style, mileage, comfort, safety and technology in their scooters. The new Jupiter 110 cc model delivers these. It comes equipped with a next-gen engine and futuristic and first-in-segment features,” he said.
TVS scooters currently rank second in terms of market share after the Honda Activa. The Jupiter brand was first launched in 2013, and TVS has regularly introduced variants on the basic model since then. In 2021, it launched the Jupiter 125 cc variant, followed by Jupiter Grande in 2019 and Jupiter SmartConnect in 2023. The new Jupiter 110 cc, which comes in seven colours, promises fuel mileage that is 10% better than its predecessor.
According to Mr Anthony, TVS has registered a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12% in the scooter category over the past ten years, as compared to the industry CAGR of 8%. TVS currently has a 10% market share in Gujarat and the State constitutes 3.5% of its sales. “We are working towards improving our performance in Gujarat,” says Subhasis Ghosal, TVS General Manager, Sales. “The launch of the new Jupiter 110 cc is a part of that effort.”
