Liberal MPs convened on Parliament Hill on Wednesday and internal calls for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to quit as a Liberal leader were growing.
During the private meeting, dissenting MPs expressed their concerns to Trudeau, highlighting increasing dissatisfaction within the party. This meeting was part of the weekly caucus sessions held while the House of Commons is in session.
The meeting provided a forum for MPs to directly express their concerns and frustrations to Prime Minister Trudeau. Trudeau is under increasing pressure from within his own party, with discontented Liberal MPs giving him an ultimatum to make a decision about his future by October 28.
During the caucus meeting, a document was presented making the case for Trudeau’s resignation, though it did not outline any consequences should he fail to meet the deadline.
The document suggested that the Liberal Party could see a revival similar to the resurgence experienced by the Democrats after US President Joe Biden chose not to stand for re-election in the upcoming presidential elections.
