In a distressing incident, the 47-year-old wife of an Indian Police Service officer from Gujarat allegedly took her own life by hanging at their residence in Ahmedabad. Shaluben, the wife of IPS officer R T Susara, was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan in a room at their Thaltej residence on Friday morning, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police S M Patel.
The police investigation revealed that Shaluben had hanged herself late Thursday night upon returning from Surat. Despite a thorough search, no suicide note was found at the scene, leading the authorities to register a case of accidental death at the Bodakdev police station. Shaluben’s body was subsequently sent to Sola Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
IPS officer R T Susara, a member of the 2011 batch, is presently serving as the Superintendent of Police, Marine Task Force, in Hazira, Surat. The couple had been in Surat for a few days to attend a wedding, with Susara taking leave from duty. Susara returned to Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon, while Shaluben arrived later that night after he was already asleep.
The grim discovery was made by Susara on Friday morning when he found his wife’s lifeless body hanging in another room on the ground floor of their house. Promptly, he alerted the local police to the tragic situation. While the preliminary investigation indicates that Shaluben took her own life during the late hours of the night, the reasons behind this unfortunate incident remain unknown, as stated by the Assistant Commissioner of Police.
