Top IAS Officers In State Given New Portfolios

The Gujarat government made significant administrative changes on Wednesday by transferring five IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officers to different positions within the state.

One of the key transfers involved Manisha Chandra, who previously held the position of secretary in the finance department, specifically in the expenditure division. She has now been reassigned as the commissioner of rural development and secretary of rural development, panchayat, and rural housing.

K M Bhimjiyani, who served as the secretary of the agriculture department with responsibilities in cooperation, animal husbandry, cow breeding, and fisheries, has been transferred to the expenditure finance department as its new secretary.

A K Rakesh, who was the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) in the agriculture, farmers’ welfare, and cooperation department, has been given an additional role as ACS in the cooperation, animal husbandry, cow breeding, and fisheries division within the same department.

Swaroop P, who previously served as the commissioner of land reforms and ex-officio secretary in the revenue department, has taken on additional responsibility as the secretary (appeals) in the revenue department.

Furthermore, Vijay Nehra, the secretary of the science and technology department, has been entrusted with an additional role as the CEO of special projects for Dholera and Mandal Becharaji SIR (Special Investment Region).
