On Monday, Deepika Padukone took to Instagram to post a video of her arrival in Cannes. The Gehraiyaan actress joined the event as a jury member this year. The 11-day festival is set to begin on May 17 and run through May 28. Deepika is also set to walk the red carpet for majority of the days.
Always one to engage with her fans, Deepika shares that though on jury duty, “her most difficult decision is whether to eat or sleep.” Basking in the recent success of Gehraiyaan, the actor is known to keep to her commitments and, yes is a workaholic!! So, her musings are entirely justifiable.
Besides Deepika, other Indian celebrities attending the Cannes Film Festival include Hina Khan, Helly Shah, Pooja Hegde, Aditi Rao Hydari and Tamannaah Bhatia. Akshay Kumar was also slated to walk the red carpet, but he had to “rest it out” after testing positive for Covid-19. This year, Cannes’ Marche’ Du Film honors India as its Official “Country Of Honour.” Watch ahead!! A lot of Indian glitz is on way on the red carpet.
Deepika will be joined by actor-filmmaker Rebecca Hall and Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi on the jury, which will also include Swedish actor Noomi Rapace, Italian actor-director Jasmine Trinca, French filmmaker-actor Ladj Ly, filmmaker Jeff Nichols and Norwegian director-screenwriter Joachim Trier.
