In a not-so-curious turn of events, the Will Smith-Chris Rock Oscargate slap has led to a surge in the sale of tickets for the Hollywood A-lister stand-up comic.
Rock is currently on a comedy tour of the US. Variety’s ticketing marketplace, TickPick, revealed that his shows had sold more tickets overnight, following the slap incident, than in the past month.
TickPick also claimed that the ticket prices had witnessed a massive spike. While the minimum rate per ticket was $46 per ticket (approx Rs 3,500) as of March 18, a ticket to Rock’s show now costs a minimum of $341 (approx Rs 26,000).
Rock is yet to react to the altercation publicly. However, a report claimed that soon after he announced the Oscar Award for Best Documentary Feature award, the actor made his way to the dressing room and left the building soon after.
A report also claimed that Will Smith and Chris Rock haven’t spoken since the incident. The actor was apparently not aware of Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia, an auto-immune disease that caused the actress’ hair loss.
Smith has issued a public apology for losing his cool.
