TIME magazine has chosen billionaire entrepreneur Gautam Adani and campaigner Karuna Nundy among the 100 Most Influential People of 2022.
President Joe Biden of the United States, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, tennis legend Rafael Nadal, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and media mogul Oprah Winfrey are among those on the list.
“Adani’s once regional firm now encompasses airports, private ports, solar and thermal power, and consumer goods,” according to Gautam Adani’s TIME profile. Despite the fact that Adani Group is now a national behemoth in the world’s sixth largest economy, Adani remains out of the spotlight, quietly expanding his empire.”
Karuna Nundy, for example, is described as a “public activist who competently and boldly utilises her voice both inside and outside the courts to bring about change.” She is a strong advocate for women’s rights who has battled for anti-rape legislation change and workplace sexual harassment cases. She is currently fighting a challenge to India’s rape statute, which has a legal exemption.
