When people across the world were celebrating their friendships on World’s friendship day, the viral ‘Friendship break-up meme’ was sold for $51,530 i.e. around 38.21 lakhs Indian rupees.
After a fight with his friend Mudasir, Asif Raza from Gujranwala, Pakistan took to Facebook in order to denounce his friendship with him. He created an iconic image that shows him holding the hands of Salman and two crossed photos at the bottom of the image. The image carries bold text which said, “Friendship ended with Mudasir. Now Salman is my best friend” and the two crossed photos in the image were of Mudasir. The image eventually went viral, and gave the meme world an opportunity, making it one of the most viral memes across the world. Little did Asif Raza knew that his post, which he posted with an intention to upset his friend Mudasir, would get viral and converted into a meme.
This post-turned meme was auctioned off worth $51,530 as an NFT (Non-Fungible Token) by an online London-Lahore-based start-up Alter on the digital art marketplace called Foundation.
