My heart was beating as fast as a rollercoaster when my dad called me. I thought I was in trouble. But, suddenly, I was shocked by what he said, and my heart felt like it would explode after he told me. I thought that he would never have said those words in my life.
He said, and I quote, “ Sam, I think we are ready! I think you have earned it. I think you could GET A DOG.” My heart felt like it stopped and, I jumped up and down with excitement. I hurried and went to my laptop to find out about breeders. Then, dad said that before we go to the breeders, let us decide the breed.
I had already had my mind shortlisted to a golden retriever, but my dad and sister did not want such a big dog, but you know how it is when someone wants something so badly. We decided on a retriever after two full days of DISCUSSION! But there was a deal if we get a retriever, it should be white, I agreed.
We found many breeders who had white retrievers, but of course, we wanted a perfect pup. Let’s skip the details and go to the day it arrived. My mom and I went to the cargo pick-up at the airport to get our doggie. But, we had to wait for an hour and a half as the flight was delayed.
When he came, I couldn’t keep my eyes off of him. I instantaneously fell in love. Unlike what we had expected, he was very active as soon as he came home. He did not let me sleep the whole night. I was so tired the next day. I felt sleepy the entire day, but he still wouldn’t sleep. In a day or two, he started settling, and so did we! Though he pooped on my blanket, tore my clothes, and ate my hair, I never stopped loving him. Did you know that we were never sure of his name: It was Frudo first, then it became Snoopy, even Doobie. After much debate, finally, we decided on the name Theo as it means brave, and my dog is a brave heart.
