Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has said that will not be returning to the Fast & Furious franchise, as insiders cite co-star Vin Diesel’s ‘manipulative schemes’ as the real reason for Johnson’s decision.
Following years of tension, Diesel implored his former co-star to reprise the role of Luke Hobbs in the 10th installment of the hit film series in an Instagram post this November, beseeching Johnson to “fulfill your destiny”, and referring to their children as well deceased star Paul Walker.
But the Hobbs & Shaw spinoff star had already made his decision.
“This past June, Vin and I actually connected and I told him directly that I would not be returning to the franchise,” Johnson recently said in an interview.
Johnson made his franchise debut in 2011’s box-office smash Fast Five and appeared in three more sequels. In 2016, he said he butted heads with unnamed male co-stars during the filming of 2017’s Fate of the Furious.
“Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation,” Johnson said, “I didn’t like that he brought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker’s death. Leave them out of it.”
