After winning T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados on Saturday, the Indian cricket team landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on Thursday morning as thousands of fans gathered to give them a heroes’ welcome.
BCCI arranged a special Air India flight for the contingent and also showed a great gesture by bringing members of the Indian media back home in the same flight.
The Rohit Sharma-led team met Prime Minister Narendra Modi before jetting off to Mumbai where a victory parade has been arranged at 5:00 PM. Fans would get free entry at the Wankhede Stadium on first-come-first-sever basis to celebrate the T20 World Cup win. Mumbai Police officials arrived at the Wankhede Stadium to monitor the security arrangement ahead of the arrival of T20 World Cup-winning Team India in the evening
PM Narendra Modi congratulated the players, praised them and also urged them to go on a title-winning spree after their T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. Modi has appealed to the players to dominate the world of cricket, saying Rohit Sharma’s team has got all the ingredients of a champion team.
MCA secretary Ajinkya Nayak has said no entry fee will be taken from the fans to enter the Wankhede Stadium. “MCA has made preparations for the public. Under the guidance of Mumbai Police and BCCI, we are going to give free entry to the public on first come first preference…We had a meeting with Mumbai Police yesterday. MCA has kept the maximum police force. It is a proud moment for MCA and the country and we are very excited to welcome the Indian team today.” he said. A victory procession in an open bus is being held from 5-7 pm on Marine Drive between Nariman Point and Wankhede Stadium.
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has welcomed T20 World Cup champions Team India with a heart-warming tweet. “Welcome after hoisting Indian flag on Barbados soil,” he has wrote.
Virat Kohli’s brother Vikas, and sister Bhawna arrived at the team hotel with their kids. Bhawna Kohli took to Instagram to post pictures.
Not only Suryakumar Yadav, but captain Rohit Sharma also made his entry to the team hotel in style. The 37-year-old did not shy away from showing his moves.

India last won the T20 World Cup in 2007, and this is their first ICC World Cup win in 13 years.
