T20 World Cup: Champions To Meet PM Modi Tomorrow

| Updated: July 3, 2024 17:55

Team India will have a packed schedule on Thursday, when they arrive in India via a charter flight from Barbados, with the Rohit Sharma-led side set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, followed by an open-top bus parade in Mumbai.

The Indian side was scheduled to leave Barbados for New York on Monday morning before taking a connecting flight from Dubai for India a couple of days after winning the T20 World Cup for a second time.

The Indian cricket team, however, was forced to spend three days on the island as a result of Hurricane Beryl, which made landfall in the Caribbean. They were finally facilitated to depart Barbados early on Wednesday morning, on a charter flight named AIC24WC, or Air India Champions 24 World Cup.

After arriving in New Delhi on Thursday at 6 a.m., the Indian cricket players and their families, together with support staff, some BCCI officials, and Indian media members, will meet PM Modi.

The T20 world champions are then expected to take a flight to Mumbai the same day, arriving in the financial capital in the evening.`

Following their victory in the 2007 T20 World Cup, Rohit and Co. will be welcomed to a ceremony at Wankhede Stadium and a kilometre-long open-top bus parade celebration in Marine Drive in the southern part of the city. This will resemble the celebration that MS Dhoni and his squad had.
