The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the fixtures for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will see 20 teams competing for the coveted trophy in a new format. India, the inaugural champions of the tournament in 2007, have been drawn into Group A with arch-rivals Pakistan, Ireland, the USA, and Canada.
India will begin their campaign against Ireland on June 5th in New York, where they will play all their group matches. The most anticipated clash of the group stage, however, will be the India vs Pakistan encounter on June 9th, which will take place at a temporary stadium built specially for the event in New York. The match is expected to attract a huge crowd and generate a lot of excitement among the fans of both teams.
India will also face the hosts USA on June 12th and Canada on June 15th in their remaining group matches, before moving on to the Super 8 stage, where the top two teams from each group will qualify. The Super 8 matches will be held in the West Indies, where India will hope to repeat their success of 2007 and 2016, when they reached the final of the tournament.
The T20 World Cup 2024 will feature a new format, with 20 teams divided into four groups of five, instead of the usual 16 teams in two groups of eight. This will give more opportunities to the associate nations and increase the competitiveness of the tournament. The final of the T20 World Cup 2024 will be played on June 30th in Barbados.
