The historic and decisive victory of Armed Forces in 1971 Indo – Pak war is a testament of sacrifice and valour and a source of inspiration for citizens of India.
Commemorating the year 2021 as “Swarnim Vijay Varsh” by the Government of India, the Swarnim Vijay Victory flame lit up by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 16 December 2020 at the National War Memorial and was directed in four cardinal directions to connect the citizens of our nation with the glorious history of our Armed Forces.
The Western Swarnim Vijay Victory Flame arrived in Gujarat on 29 July 2021. It reached Ahmedabad on 17 August 2021 wherein an event was conducted at the Sabarmati Riverfront. During the occasion, Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani and Lieutenant General JS Nain, Ati Vishist Seva Medal, Sena Medal, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command paid tributes to our heroes and gallant soldiers who made the sacrifice in the war.
Youth witnessing the event said, “We are extremely thrilled and excited to be part of such a noble celebration. We are deeply inspired and humbled by the sacrifices made by our soldiers and will always stand by our Armed Forces”.
The Governor & General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command felicitated Veterans and Veer Naris of 1971 war on the occasion. The event, organised by the Indian Army, was attended by a host of civil and military dignitaries at Ahmedabad.
