Sushmita Sen, the first Indian beauty queen to be crowned Miss Universe, has parted ways with her young boyfriend, Rohman Shawl. Posting a picture on Instagram with Rohman Shawl, the 46 year old Indian actress explained that the relationship ended long ago and that the two “remain friends.
Sushmita Sen who is currently riding high on the success of her recently released web series Aarya 2, took to Instagram to announce this sad news. On her career-best performance in drama series Aarya she had earlier said, “I felt like the Universe had to reward me because I’ve worked so hard to get there! And I can call Aarya that reward! It came at the right time, not just on a professional level,”
In her post, she wrote, “We began as friends, we remain friends! The relationship was long over. The love remains.”
Rumours of Sushmita Sen and boyfriend Rohman’s break-up had been doing the rounds for quite some time.
Sushmita and Rohman began dating back in 2018, their relationship began shortly after Rohman, sent her a direct message on Instagram, which she accidentally opened. Rohman is also known to share a solid bond with the Sen family and is often featured in her Instagram posts along with Sushmita’s daughters, Alisah and Renee.
Sushmita’s fans have reacted to the news with a sense of shock and disbelief as it was only last month that Rohman greeted her on Instagram Stories. “Happy Birthday Babush,” he put in the caption along with heart and hug emojis.
Earlier, in an interview with Film Companion, Sushmita said that Rohman hid his age from her when they initially started talking. “Initially, he kept hiding his age for some reason. I would keep asking him, ‘So, how old are you? You look so young.’ And he would be like, ‘You guess!’ Later, once I realized how young he was, as to why he didn’t want that to get in the way of this conversation. So yeah, we did not choose this, it was chosen for us. It was destined,” she said. The couple has a conspicuous age gap, Sushmita is 46, while Rohman is 29 years old.
Sushmita Sen has always been lucky with men. Her romance with Randeep Hooda dates back almost a decade back. The two appeared together in their film ‘Karma, Confession and Holi’ and even shared a few steamy scenes. Their relationship did not last long and soon they parted ways. If reports are to be believed, Sushmita and Randeep are on good terms now.
Sushmita was quite young when she began dating married filmmaker Vikram Bhatt. The two even appeared hand-in-hand on actress Simi Garewal’s popular talk show ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal.’
Rumors of the diva’s relationship and her possible marriage with Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram also did rounds in 2013. But she denied it.
Sushmita Sen made her Bollywood debut in the 1996 film Dastak. She has featured in films such as Biwi No 1, Do Knot Disturb, Main Hoon Na, Maine, Pyaar Kyun Kiya and Tumko, Na Bhool Paayenge.
