The negligence of the administrative apathy of the system at Smimer Hospital in Surat has come to light. It is found that the women coming to the hospital are forced to use men’s toilets for urine tests. The problem is going on for the past two months.
It has come to notice that the women’s toilet has been locked by the staff. Women’s toilets are reserved for use by women staff of hospitals only. This has forced the women patients to use the male toilets. The relatives of the patient have to stand outside while the woman goes to the male toilet to take the sample.
The toilets near the blood collection centre were marked with male toilets and female toilets. However, ever since the female toilet was locked by the staff, it was also reported that the word “female” had been erased from the female toilet. As more than 50 patient samples are coming daily, there has been an urgent demand to remove the locks of the female toilet.
The RMO, publishing this time, said that someone from the staff of the blood collection centre had locked the female toilet. The lock was immediately opened after calling the staff and henceforth this toilet will be in common use for the women.
