Diamond City Surat is all set to dazzle as the forerunner. Come April 18 and the city will host “Smart Cities–Smart Urbanisation” planned to showcase the infra that goes into making cities “smart.”
Over a thousand representatives from 100 cities across the country are likely to participate in the event which is being jointly organized by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC).
“This is the biggest conference ever held in the city. We are indeed proud of our abilities and delighted to show the way to others,” shared city municipal commissioner, Bachhanidhi Pani.
A series of lectures, presentations on successful projects executed by municipal corporations and visits to developed projects are planned throughout the day.
“A large number of the population is migrating from rural areas to cities and such events play a key role in developing future ready cities. Through this event, we can showcase the city’s infrastructure and how to plan going forward” Pani added.
Chief minister Bhupendra Patel and Union ministers along with ministers from other states are expected to grace the event. Among route-mapping initiatives to be presented are Urban Outcome Assessment Frameworks Ease of Living, Municipal Performance Index, Data Maturity, Climate and Smart Cities Assessment Frameworks and Geospatial MIS Output.
