The Surat Municipal Corporation reported cases of food poisoning at a wedding dinner in Katargam, Surat. The officials took the infected people to the hospital. However, as food poisoning started affecting more and more people, the corporation opened an OPD (Outpatient Department) for immediate treatment under the wedding tent. As per the sources, more than 100 people have caught food poisoning so far.
On Monday, the wedding ceremony took place at Ghanshyam Park Society in Katargam, Surat. However, the wedding reception was on the following day at Nityananda Farm. The family invited around 700 to 800 people for the wedding dinner. After more than 700 people had dinner at the buffet, they noticed uneasiness and nausea. Later, the Surat Municipal Corporation discovered that the people were down with food poisoning. Due to the absence of resources that could accommodate such a large gathering, the health officials began treatment at the wedding venue.
