A young man in Surat, India, narrowly escaped a potentially fatal injury last Sunday evening when his throat was cut by a kite string while riding his moped on the Sachin Satwalla Bridge.
The young man, who has not been identified, was traveling from Navasari to Navagam when the incident occurred. He moved to avoid a kite string that suddenly appeared in his path, causing the string to slice across his throat.
Although the cut was deep, fortunately, it missed any vital organs. He received treatment at a nearby hospital and later sought further medical attention at the Surat Civil Hospital due to the length of the incision.
Doctors confirmed that the young man’s life was not in danger and emphasized the importance of careful monitoring to prevent infection.
This incident highlights the dangers posed by kite strings, particularly those coated with glass or other abrasives. Authorities in Surat have cracked down on the sale and use of such strings in recent years.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of kite string safety and the need for continued efforts to raise awareness about the dangers.
