The Surat Crime branch arrested a man for stealing diamonds worth Rs 2 crores and other jewellery items from a five star hotel in Jaipur.
The accused named as Jayesh Sejpal stole the diamonds and the gem-studded jewellery from a lavish wedding at Clarks Amer hotel. Apart from the jewellery, the police also recovered Rs 2.50 crores of cash from Sejpal.
Hotel Clarks Amer held a grand wedding for the daughter of Rajeev Boyara of Chhattisgarh. Boyara’s maternal uncle Rahul Bandali had come to attend the wedding with his wife Aarti. A total of 6 rooms were booked on the 6th and 7th floors for the guests to stay.
Sejpal entered Bandali’s room in his absence and stole the jewellery and cash. An FIR has been registered against him and the matter is being further investigated.
