Veteran Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has been in the industry for the past three decades – talks about the importance of box-office collections in an actor’s career. He also emphasises how choosing the right subject gives the actor both the required image and collection.
Talking about actors of their generation like Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, Shetty says, “Today no one can do a 50 crore film on Suniel Shetty. Will not take the risk, but he will take the risk of a Rs 500 crore film with Akshay Kumar.”
His problem, says Shetty, was not being typecasted, but playing it safe. He revealed that the banners would impress him more than the subjects for which he was approached. “‘I’ll only work with XYZ’, ‘Who’s the director?’ It means you don’t have your own judgment,” he says.
According to Shetty, it becomes necessary to keep experimenting as an actor. Praising the versatility of actors like Tiger Shroff and Ayushmann Khurrana, he said that it was important to create an image as they have for themselves.
The 59-year-old actor has, over the years made, a mark in films ranging from romantic to comedies. He has been seen in hit movies like Mohra, Border, Saput during his early years.
