Aam Aadmi Party leaders and workers assembled in Ahmedabad and in major cities of Gujarat, in sizeable numbers to protest against PM Modi’s recent barb aimed at the party. AAP is protesting the statement made by the PM where he termed the AAP promise of freebies as “revadi culture”. Revadi is a tiny sweetball distributed to entice children to get from them something moe important they are holding.
Police detained around 40 people citing that they had not obtained police permission. Police had hard time tryng to carry away physically two woman workers.
PM Modi during his recent visit to the state has said that there is an attempt to bring a culture of getting votes by distributing free Revadi in the country. This revadi culture can be fatal to development, he said. He warned people to not fall prey to this culture. The remarks were clearly aimed at AAP which is making a forey in the state assembly elections due later this year. AAP is promising many a freebies in it’s manifesto. They have implemented some in Delhi, a state where they have come in power.
A large number of AAP activists and leaders gathered near Big Bazar in Raipur area of Ahmedabad However, police started detaining the activists citing no permission is taken.
The program was to be held under the leadership of the party’s National Joint Secretary Isudan Gadhvi and State General Secretary Manoj Sorthia. However Isudan Gadhvi was not present at the protest which was held by Manoj Sorthia and activists . As soon as the group started raising slogans against PM Modi, a convoy of police immediately rushed to the spot and rounded up 10 women and 30 men..
Some funny scenes were also created as the lady police could not carry away the two women workers of the party and had to be pulled away.
