The much-awaited 6th edition of the Abhivyakti Art Festival is set to captivate audiences from November 21 to December 8, 2024. Taking place at the Gujarat University campus and ATIRA in Ahmedabad, the festival promises a mesmerising exploration of emotions, creativity and storytelling through music, dance, theatre and visual arts.

This year’s theme, “Stories from the Soul”, highlights the profound connection between artists and their audiences. Through performances, installations and workshops, the event underscores art as a powerful medium of emotional expression and social commentary.

The festival opens on November 21 with Saumya Joshi’s theatrical production “Oh!!! Womaniya” at the Amphitheatre, Gujarat University campus and Khushi Langalia’s classical contemporary dance performance “Sangeetkarini Tana Riri” at ATIRA.

The programme offers a vibrant mix of classical and contemporary art forms, including “Triputhu – Sacred Feminine Awakening” by Dr Aishwarya Warrier, “The Untold” by Hiral Balsara, fusion rock by Mukt Band and soulful qawwali by Jaimin Vaidya. Theatre highlights include “The Carnival of Death”, a dark comedy by Ivan Khan and “Jogidas Khuman”, a historical drama by Deval Vora and Asif Ajmeri.

Workshops and interactive sessions are central to this year’s festival, offering experiences like shadow puppetry, flip-book creation and dance led by Buskman. The visual arts segment features over 40 artists, with curated walks to showcase their works.

Abhivyakti continues to serve as a platform for both established and emerging talents to experiment and innovate. From African dance and street art to classical forms like Kathak and Bharatanatyam, the festival bridges tradition and modernity. Visitors are encouraged to engage deeply with the arts through performances, installations and participatory workshops, ensuring an inclusive and immersive cultural celebration.

The 6th edition of Abhivyakti reaffirms its status as a vital cultural event, celebrating the transformative power of art to connect hearts and inspire minds.
