While the second wave of Covid -19 is not over yet and Covid curbs are still partially in place, over 150 gamblers who assembled in about seven houses near Tambu Chowky in Dariapur were held by State Monitoring Cell (SMC) headed by Additional Additional DGP Nirja Gotru.
DSP, Jyoti Patel of SMC said they acted on a tip off and the place at about 7 pm on July 5 2021.
“The gambling activity was going on in about seven places. We surrounded the area and rounded them up. We are still in the process of counting cash recovered from spot. The accused held have been sent for Covid-19 test” added Patel.
Sources from SMC said that the gambling den was being allegedly run by Govind Ramu Patel. Patel has also been held along with other accused.
