In Gandhinagar, only 8.56 percent of class 10 students have opted for Standard Mathematics, with the majority choosing Basic Mathematics.
In 2024, over 8.35 lakh students registered for the Gujarat Board exam. Of these, just over 71,000 selected Standard Mathematics, while the remaining students, numbering over 7.63 lakh, chose Basic Mathematics.
The Gujarat Board introduced the option of Basic Mathematics in the academic year 2022-23. Since then, over 91 percent of students have opted for Basic Mathematics, which is considered less challenging than Standard Mathematics.
In the previous year, 10.59 percent of class 10 students had opted for Standard Mathematics, while in 2022-23, as many as 14.18 percent chose Standard Mathematics.
Interestingly, 94.99 percent of students who chose Standard Mathematics passed the board exam last year, compared to only 70.44 percent of Basic Mathematics students.
