A stampede occurred during a religious congregation in Pulrai village, Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the loss of at least 27 lives and leaving several others injured.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Singh from Etah, the ‘Satsang’ gathering drew a large crowd, leading to overcrowding. Among the victims were 23 women, three children, and one man. The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Etah Hospital.
Sikandara Rao police station SHO Ashish Kumar confirmed that the stampede was triggered by the overwhelming number of attendees.
In response to the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the grieving families. He instructed officials to swiftly reach the accident site and implement relief measures to support those affected by this event.
