Sri Lanka is in its worst form, undergoing the most horrible economic crisis in the past 70 years. There is a shortage of food, prices are spiraling, fuel is not easily available and extended blackouts persist. Added to all of this, the President of the nation, Gotabya Rajapaksha has absconded from the country and flew to Maldives. Seeing the gravity of the situation, an emergency has been declared by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
This has led to country-wide protests across the island nation. Even the presidential palace was not left unbothered. Treating it as a public place meant for entertainment, many protestors entered the government building and made themselves at home.
One such visitor, named Maduhansi Hasinthara thought she would go visit the president’s residence in Colombo and click on pictures like a tourist. Despite the protests, Ms. Hasnithara looks like she is a nearby local having fun in the house.
Captioned “At President’s house, Colombo” Maduhansi herself shared 26 photos on her Facebook account at July 12, which are now gaining attention on social media. In the photos she is seen on the bed, on the chairs and sofa, next to a car and on the lawn.
Netizens found this practice inappropriate and hence, mocked the woman in the post`s comments section. One of them even asked her to become the New President of Sri Lanka. Another wrote “Making mockery of our own country.” The post has received 20,000 likes in total and thousands of comments. Above 8,000 users have reshared the post.
