The BJP delegation headed by Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi had a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner in Delhi on Monday to complain about the Congress statement, “a Hindu can never become the Chief Minister of Punjab.”
He alleges that in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samajwadi Party and Congress are not allowing Muslim women to vote. “Women are being asked to go to booths in burkha and insist on voting without showing identity. We have briefed EC on this matter and urged them to take steps to stop fake voting,” the Union Minister said.
The polling in Punjab is scheduled in a single phase on February 20. The votes will be counted on March 10. Voting for the second phase of elections in UP ended at 6 pm on Monday.
Naqvi accused the opposition parties that they are forcing women to go to booths in the burqa and vote without showing their identity. In this matter, we have informed the Election Commission and requested them to take steps to prevent bogus voting, he added.
