When Conflictorium does it, it does in style, no? Two fascinating exhibitions have opened at the beautiful Museum of Conflict and these are ones you’d not want to miss.
‘Seeing You, Seeing Me’ This exhibit comes under the museum’s current ‘Subjects of Surveillance’ (an “enquiry into and deconstruction of the State, Societal and Self-Surveillance in the Indian Context – prisons, police and patriarchy”). On display will be works by Debanshu Bhaumik, Deepikah Rahul Bhardwaj, Karthik KG, Manit Jignesh Gajjar, Point of View Team, and Vijay Kadam.
‘Owed to a Certain Emptiness: Infra-structuring the Conflictorium’ Museum founder Avni Sethi, recipient of the Jane Lombard Prize for Art and Social Justice (2020-2022) with Vera List Centre is displaying this exhibition at Parsons School of Design in New York. As part of this event, which also opened on Friday, Avni will be in live conversation with 12 different art and culture practitioners: Manan Ahmed, Kemi llesanmi, Emily Johnson, Carin Kuoni, Shaun Leonardo, Shannon Mattern, Tamara Oyalo Santiago, Eriola Pira, Robert Sember, Radhika Subramaniam, Jennifer Tipton and Hrag Vartanian.

Ankit Gor of AntiClock Productions brings Mix Tape, an anthology of five monologues based on tales of the lockdown. 1) Dear Junglee: written by Aaditya Trivedi, performed by Tarjanee Bhadla; 2) Lock-Up: written by Tushar Sharma, performed by Pratik Rathod; 3) Marriageable: written by Ankit Gor, performed by Jaini Shah; 4) Note to my ex: written and performed by Ankit Gor; 5) Positive: devised by Ankit Gor, performed by Ravi Gohil.

Curated by Ojas Desai, ‘Busy Streets, Empty Streets has a total of 36 works on display, where Dalal has depicted roadside businesses and then also peaceful, empty streets. The artist has tried to present two distinct aspects of a city using “busy” and “empty” streets
